Treasury Accountant

The role

Elmbridge’s Finance Team are looking for an experienced local government accountant to manage the financial transaction services of the Council.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Preparation of the final accounts notes relating to financial instruments, including producing working papers and liaison with the Council’s external auditors.
  • Preparation of the annual Treasury Management Strategy.
  • Managing the Council’s investments and debt in compliance with the strategy.
  • Monthly VAT returns and reconciliation of VAT control account.
  • Preparation and presentation of treasury monitoring reports to the Audit and Standards Committee.

About you

In addition to being enthusiastic and willing to contribute to strong team environment, you will:

  • have a full or part CCAB qualification
  • have significant experience of working within a local government finance team
  • have a working knowledge of the CIPFA Code of Practice
  • have experience of the money market and investments
  • have proven oral and written communication skills
  • have knowledge/experience of completing VAT returns
