Elmbridge Museum is seeking to appoint a maternity cover Learning and Outreach Officer. The post holder will be responsible for developing and delivering an innovative outreach programme for a range of audiences and will facilitate opportunities to engage the local community with the Museum’s collection.

The post holder will be responsible for community outreach, delivering workshops to a broad range of residents including schools, families, community groups and adult learners. The post holder will manage the Schools Membership programme, quarterly Museum Explorers family activities and the Community Centre outreach programme, creating and delivering varied activities which bring local history to life. They will work within the wider Culture, Leisure & Environment Services department to strengthen the Council’s cultural offering. The post holder will also work closely with the Marketing Officer to promote the learning programme and increase digital engagement via the Museum website and the Council’s social media channels.

The successful candidate will be passionate about engaging varied audiences in local history and will be confident leading workshops in a variety of settings. They will have a degree in a relevant subject, experience of working with children and other audiences, experience of managing staff and/or volunteers, and a strategic approach to the development of learning resources. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent organisational skills and flexibility in their approach to work.

This post requires an enhanced DBS check which will be organised by the Council for the successful applicant. A full driving license is also an essential requirement for this post as the role involves regular travel to public venues in the borough.
