Collections Project Officer
Elmbridge Museum is seeking to appoint a fixed-term Collections Project Officer to support us in our aim to ensure the collection reflects the history of Elmbridge and is relevant to the local community.
The post holder will be responsible for co-ordinating a full audit of the collections store and recruiting a volunteer team to document and re-package objects in preparation to move to a new storage facility. They will also be responsible for creating a research project to explore hidden object stories to enable increased understanding about the relevance of the collection to the borough of Elmbridge.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with a varied local authority collection and build on the museum’s audience engagement programme through a new volunteer-led research project and associated activities. We are looking for candidates with experience of best practice in documentation and collections care, a commitment to public engagement and accessibility, excellent project management skills and experience of managing volunteers. You will need a flexible approach to work and a full driving license to enable travel to off-site stores.
